Simon’s Town welcomes spring 2014 with a music festival and fun activities.

Simon’s Town welcomes spring this year with a festival of music; the weekend of the 19th to 21st September sees a variety of musical performances, from classic to jazz and rock, presented at various venues in the village, and adding to the festive vibe will be music from youth groups, an art exhibition, and a craft market. There are specials on accommodation and food; the village unites to welcome friends and visitors; come and see why we are so fortunate to work and live and play here. Go to the Music Festival facebook page pagehttps://www.facebook.com/simonstownmusicfest  for giveaways and prizes, details on the programme and ticket sales.

And the town continues to celebrate during the week that follows; a Braai Competition is held on the jetty on Heritage Day 24th September: are you the 2014 champion? For details and to enter (only R30), mail Nicky at nixwerks@gmail.com or call in at Larijworks or phone 083 9779 182.

On Saturday the 27th, the Side Walk Saunter, a fashion show with a difference, takes place from 2-3pm. Shops taking part in the fashion show will have models strutting their stuff and handing out specials and discount vouchers to passers by. This will be an interactive and vibey show; be there. For more information or to participate contact Louise 083 406 2001.

On the Saturday morning, the Methodist Church Bazaar features stalls, games and bargains.

“Reflections” Music Concert, 1 December 2013: end-of-year-occasion-to-relax

Without music, life would be an error (Nietzsche)

Pro Musica Divina director, Steven van der Merwe, invited the wonderfully talented duo Sarah Acres (cello) and Albert Combrink (piano) to perform their program “Reflection” at the Simon’s Town Methodist Church on 1 December at 6.30pm.  This delightful program of contemplative music (by a variety of composers from Schubert to Ravel) allows the audience time to sit back, relax and enjoy the sounds of reflection and peace.  This is enhanced by the fact that there is no applause, except at the beginning and end of the concert, and candles are the only light as soon as daylight fades.

Come and enjoy an hour of shear musical bliss in tranquility of the church on the hill overlooking the beautiful town of Simon’s Town!  Tickets are R 70 and only available at the door.  For enquiries phone 072 992 9220.  Please remember that seats are limited, therefore arrive in good time to find your “special spot” for contemplation.

Eat, Sleep, Shop & Play – Simon’s Town Promotional Map & Leaflet – book your advert now!

Our town map has successfully been circulated to 60,000 over the last 12 months but this season we aim to raise the bar!  We are preparing to extend the map into a highly informative and attractive brochure, combining the numerous attractions of the area with activities, where to eat, sleep and shop.

This will be extensively available to tour operators, guides, and visitors coming to Cape Town, especially those looking to the peninsula as their holiday base – this includes 200,000 monthly visitors who have named Cape Point as their number one destination. This is our target audience – we must get them to stop here and stay here to fully appreciate everything the area has to offer.

A lot of our marketing adequately provides information regarding the historical sites, restaurants, beaches, shops  etc but the aim is to persuade visitors that Simon’s Town should be the main  base for their Cape Town holiday. Every shop, historical site, museum, restaurant and activity  should be represented to make this the number one reference for all visitors. And everyone of them should in turn be able to use the brochure to book activities, meals and accommodation. By showcasing our businesses together in one vehicle we are proposing the case for visitors to make Simon’s Town their holiday base. Continue reading

Tehillah Blues Trio at Bertha’s Restaurant, during Spring Festival

The Tehillah Blues Trio was formed in early 2012 and has become one of the Far South’s most popular blues acts. They will be bluesing it up at Bertha’s Restaurant in Simon’s Town on the 23’rd of September from 7-9pm.

The combination of young and old in the trio creates a unique sound that captures audiences of all ages. Jaco Botha’s youthful Guitar and Vocals are blended well with the mature growly Vocals and Bass of Dave Hain, while ex-military man Baden Reed keeps time like only an army man can.  Come listen to some blues, TEHILLAH STYLE!
